Graphical update
Did a small update to try and make the game look a bit better, i might put some more effort into it when i release the full chapter 2, effectively just added a few "wear" tiles on top of the already existing tiles to make it look a bit more random, so basically where before the road was just tiles of pure grey and tiles with white dotted lines in the middle, now it has overlayed tiles with cracks or nondescript puddles. This is fine for now but in the future i'm considering ditching the traditional tileset and instead just drawing my scenes in ms paint and importing them into the game as a tileset, which would take up more space but it would 100% make the game look better, at the moment it's difficult for me to make the world map look better because i have to think of where the overlays would work nice, and how to make them look right, and even at the end i only had like 6 variations so it still looked a bit robotic, if i was able to draw the maps as a solid image i could mess around and do custom sprites for any particular tile, which would make the game look much better (assuming i can actually do art, which i can't really).
Videogames are probably the most time consuming form of media to make, I think people fail to appreciate how much effort it actually takes to make a videogame, hell I probably just spent 5 hours working on this update and I hardly even did that much, i'm not sure does the game even work properly because I went through it once to playtest it, i fixed every bug i found as i went along and checked that those individual bugs were fixed but i may well have broken the whole game doing that, oh well.
